Will it explode???? Empty Will it explode????

Question Question Greetings, I am new to this forum and stirling engine technology. I am starting a project that will convert a off the shelf V cylinder air compressor into a Alpha stirling engine. My biggest question is if the oil is left in the air compressor will it explode after the conversion? I was reading that hot O2 will mix with the oil and explode and one death has been recorded. I can not find the link where I read this. Is this true?
